Happy Saturday Friends and Family of Rabbit Valley® Comics,
He Knew – A young dragon learns that reading the fine print is a rule you should always observe…a rule that is best learned the hard way. After blindly drinking an unusual beverage, then young dragon will come to learn the power of a dragon’s musk… And he’d also find a new way to spend time with his old man.
All Tied Up In Knots by Andres Cyanni Halden – Carson really likes meeting guys over Knotz, his favorite smartphone app. He has little patience for conversation and even less for the idea of a relationship. However, after a hot bear quite literally knocks him off his feet, it seems there might be more to life than his job and searching for one night stands.
Freedom City by Phil Geusz – Tired of being pushed around by the State? Visit the tropical paradise of Freedom City, anchored just above the Caribbean Sea. Stay at the famous Rabbit’s Foot Casino with its gene engineered bunny folk as your hosts, or prowl the Cat House for sex and drugs. Job opportunities abound for brave immigrants, especially if they don’t mind growing fur or wearing a cyborg body. Come and live in Freedom, but watch your step!

The young otter has heard a lot about college — the good and the bad — but there’s even more in store than that. Old friends will be lost, new friends will be made. Uncovered by Kyell Gold – The playoffs are here, and Dev Miski’s life has never been busier. If the Chevali Firebirds want to win their first championship, he’ll need to play the best football of his life. But, as the only gay professional football player, he’s beset by distracting demands for commercials and interviews.
The number one distraction, though, is his boyfriend Lee. After the fox’s mother joins a religious anti-gay group, Lee turns back to the gay activism of his college days. He pushes Dev to use his celebrity to reach out to gay youth, but only succeeds in starting bigger arguments. When their relationship faces its most difficult test, will their love for each other triumph?
This is the fourth volume of Dev and Lee’s story which began in Out of Position and continued in Isolation Play and Divisions. The playoffs will bring the football season to an end one way or another. What will it mean for their future together?
Cover and interior illustrations are by Blotch.
Heat, Volume #11 has grown thicker and longer with the collaboration of the SofaWolf editorial team. Black Teagan has returned to manage art, comics and layout design. Dark End has taken a greater role in story editing and helping shepherd the project along. Alopex and Jeff Eddy have remained on board for reading the slushpile and a bit of editing as well. This volume as been a great team effort, pulled off once again just in time for the usual Anthrocon release.
Detective O’Hye is a hard-boiled cop in a soft-boiled city. His wife Elsie is a private eye with a one-track mind. Their burning passion for each other (and for taking down criminals) will help them solve The Case of the Gelatinous Gemstone (by Tempe O’Kun, illustrated byKeovi).
In Never Again, a comic by SophieCabra, Dex and Toby haven’t seen each other in what feels like forever, but it’s hard to find a private moment when they both arrive at YuCon 2014.
In Lines by Huskyteer, illustrated by Pegibruno, Judi’s acting career is stumbling, as the jobs aren’t coming in like they used to. The only thing keeping her and her lover afloat is the phone sex business she runs on the side, but that could fail too unless she finds a new source of inspiration.
In On Duty, a comic by Blue_Panther, a meeting between two horses reminds us of all the naughty implications of “a hard day’s work.”
Jewels of Remorse (by Slip-Wolf, illustrated by Ludo, a.k.a. bloodshot23) takes us to a backwater planet on the far reaches of civilized space, where three con artists are about to pull off the scheme of a lifetime…if only their leader could get over his doubts about the job.
In Sheep Trials, a comic by BlackTeagan, it’s the day before the big game, the puns are flying fast and furious, and…hey, wait a minute! That’s not what a shepherd’s crook is for!
In Lip Service (by Whyte Yoté, illustrated by Mari), a simple, quiet, unassuming polar bear dining alone at a posh restaurant would typically not be a mystery, but to his waiter, Than, who believes he knows what everyone wants, this one customer is a complete enigma.
Heat, a poem by Camron Cuccu and illustrated by Arphalia, is a very appropriate inclusion in this magazine, telling the tale of burning passion that consumes all in its path.
Da Capo al Fine (by Dark End, illustrated by Katie Hofgard) introduces us to Helena, a popular porn actress with a secret: she isn’t the real Helena. She is a copy meant to take the real Helena’s place, with the same body, the same name, and the same memories — memories that are growing harder and harder to distinguish from reality with each passing hour.
In Well Rounded, a comic by Etuix, while Maggie visits her sick friend at Wolfsong University, she gets a surprise lesson in sexuality from her friend’s roommate. After all, a good education should be well rounded.
A trip to Wizard Livingfire’s “Dis-spell the Gay” camp sounds like fun to Koris. He gets to spend a lot of time in the company of many handsome men, and it’s not like magic can alter Koris’s Fundamental Natures (by Kyell Gold, illustrated by Darren ‘Coyox’ Waud)… Right?
“Advertising” in this issue is provided by Calor Sudor premium liquor (by Donryu) and a movie poster for “The Geneticist” starring Silvio Genet (by Kamui). Additional entertainment involving Knotty Words provided courtesy of BlackTeagan.
The wrap-around cover features art from Blotch inspired by Slip-Wolf’s story Jewels of Remorse.
Artistic Visions: The Art of Hibbary – explores the creative process and sketches of illustrator and freelance artist Hillary Luetkemeyer. Working from a widely varied background of artistic disciplines, and possessing a drive to continually explore new concepts, Hibbary has amassed an impressive body of work. Well-known for her beautiful and varied dragons and her heavy involvement with the online virtual pet site khimeros.com, her sketches and commentary illuminate both while also giving insight into her equally stunning works-in-progress. Along the way we are treated to insight into her preferred working materials, sources of inspiration and frustration, and thoughts on the difficulties of creating art as a business.
This installment of Artistic Visions includes 100 pages of dragons, khimeras and a wide variety of animal species both real and mythological. Hundreds of sketches and the artist’s commentary lead you through the process she takes from concept to finished piece, and has something for everyone.
2 The Ranting Gryphon – DVD10 – Bootleg In 2000, a gryphon named simply “2” when in fronf of a crowd of friends at AnthroCon to see if he could get a few smiles.
For the next several years, 2 hosted comedy shows in small hotel panel rooms and meetings halls — whatever he could find — for furry fandom convention goers, never having a stage or camera crew to record the events. These performances were lost to all but those who attended.
However, camera were rolling…
Now, almost 15 years since his first performance in front of a crowd, amature footage of what went on in these small rooms has been uncovered.
From his first shceduled comedy performance in 2001 to his first big stage performance in Pittsburgh 2006, you can now see the Ranting Gryphon performances that were, until now, lost to time.
