Thanks for visiting!

The Bunny and Fox have been out in Northern California for food safety reasons as well as visiting friends in the greater Bay Area. We had dinner with one of our oldest authors and comic peoples, lunch with the team of YARF! (and managed to get some insight as to when the next compilation issue will be out), as well as general fun in the sun. We have to admit that the Bay Area has much nicer summer weather than the 107ºF heat of our home in Las Vegas.

There was time in the pool and spa tub, lots of drinks at the bar, and more good sushi and teppanyaki as well as a visit to Apple Headquarters and lunch at Cafe Macs. What can we say – we like good food. The sushi, Sushi Mania in Cupertino was some of the best and lest expensive sushi I’ve had since Sushi Yasu in Waltham. Kaenyama Sushi and Teppanyaki of Fremont is simply amazing; that is to say the Mai Tai drinks are strong and the food good – but still Benihana has the best friend rice. We also made quick friends with the bar tenders of the Crown Plaza in Hayward.

Our next trip is Ohio next week. In the meantime our books are at Fennec’s table at FAU and will be at WhiteWolfs table at MFM and at Volker Wutte’s table at Eurofurance. Full details of our convention and events schedule can be found here.

We’ve got a couple of new books in the works for release this fall. Keep watching this space for more information.

Well, anyway, break is over time to get back to driving.

Happy Wednesday Friends and Fans of Rabbit Valley Comics,

After picking and packing the orders this morning the bunny and fox took off to work. The bunny to his day job and the fox to the road.

Driving for eight hours gives a fox a lot of time to think, considering there was no traffic until Hayward, California. The drive consisted of a stop from gas and to visit two client sites. All told it took roughly nine hours to go from Las Vegas to San Jose with two hours worth of stops. Thats seven hours of thinking time.

Well, five hours as there were two hours of calls to the home office and clients of clients. Apparently there was a procedural change back in March that I missed. Luckily only two clients needed telephone retraining and Bunny will make a video next week that we can send to the users.

So for five hours I was able to think about where my life is and where I want it to go. (This is the Fox writing.) Bunny and I are very happy with all our customers at Rabbit Valley – we are doing well this year compared to last. We are happy with the number of conventions we attended and look forward to attending more furry cons next year. We have already added FWA to the schedule and are looking for other conventions and events to fill more free time. It is my goal to have Rabbit Valley books at every furry con either directly or through our partners, so far I am happy.

One of the things we would like to do is to publish more novels and anthologies. We’ll be announcing our submissions guidelines for our first anthology later this month – hold me to that. We are very happy with our comics and magazine offering and are thrilled by our partnership with Dragon’s Hoard. We will be looking for other partners in the coming year.

Rabbit Valley Labs has also taken off in the last quarter. What started as a once a quarter marketing consulting gig has turned into a weekly including travel and getting to visit friends as well as do a very important food safety job. We even gave been asked to do method development in our own home lab. We are an integrated part our our client’s team.

Finally my medical software contract continues to provide 40 hours per week of billable work.

With all this in mind I think it’s fair to say that Bunny can drop another day from his day job next year.

At the end of the day I enjoy working with my spouse. We make a good team.

Happy Tuesday Fans and Friends,

Fox here wanting to let everyone know that all orders placed while we were out at Rocky Mountain Fur Con have been picked, packed, and shipped. We’ll be processing orders again tomorrow morning before we head to our day jobs and then to Northern California to visit some of our customers and clients. Regular daily order shipping will resume on Sunday.

Fox rant time.

I was going to write a post thanking all my friends for supporting my Bunny and I in our marriage. I started listing the names of all my friends who are straight (I hate that label) and support marriage equality – the list grew so long that it brought me to tears. I know there are those out there who do not support equality. I know there are people out there who feel that people who are different than themselves in any way (sexual orientation / race / religious beliefs / whatever) should be treated as less than equals – but not vocally in my social circles. Bunny and I have awesome friends, spanning the entire country.

Equality is not a war on religion, ‘traditional marriage’ (again, hateful label), or any individual. In my country, women as a group fought for the right to vote; persons of darker skin color fought for basic human rights including marriage to other people in the (regardless of skin color), the right to vote, and the right to be treaded as equals. As a gay American I only want the same equality as every other American – not anything (ANYTHING) less than that.

Why am I writing about this now? Well, the internet is full of people’s opinions. Sure mine will get lost in the stream, but I wanted to make sure that I, for myself and my friends, said that I am very thankful for the support exhibited by all my friends and family, especially those who are not homosexual like me. Your support and friendship means a lot to us. We might get all preachy around you from time to time in person, we [I] need to make a point of thanking you for being a friend.

So here it is in writing – Thanks for being a supportive friend.

End Rant

Sorry for the spam, it’s something I wanted to say. I’ll try not to use Rabbit Valley® Comics as a soapbox in the future.

We’re currently ten hours away from our home base in Las Vegas, better make that eleven with stops for gas and food. Rocky  Mountain Fur  Con was an amazing show for us. Sales were strong, the booze flowed freely, and we were able to catch up with suppliers and friends. Buck Hopper (B-Hop) is an amazing person. Many thanks to the artists who drew in our sketchbook and to WhiteWolf for agreeing to take on our upcoming project as well as sell our books at MFM and FurFright. It was super good to see Tabby in suit again (and out of suit in street clothes) as well as Blotch, Rikoshi, Zia, TeiranDragon, Rukis and all the rest (too many to name).

Our friend and neighbor, BunnyMan, kept us sane and we want to thank him for letting us use his truck again. A special shout out to Skip and Gray for helping us with the tables (all three of them!) and joining us for dinner and drinks during the convention.

What surprised us the most was our art show sales. We managed to sell all but one of the items we put into the art show. One piece even went to voice auction!

The only thing to say is that since 2009 Rocky  Mountain Fur Con has not disappointed us in any way. We’ll be back next year for sure.

Want to see us or our books at conventions? Here is the list of upcoming events Rabbit Valley® Comics will be attending for the rest of the year.
